Senator Ahmed El-Qanawy Voices Support for Amendments to Importers’ Registry Law

Senator Ahmed El-Qanawy, a member of Egypt’s Senate and Secretary-General of the ElAdl Party, announced his support for the government’s proposed amendments to the Importers’ Registry Law.

During a plenary session of the Senate, El-Qanawy delivered his remarks as the chamber debated the report issued by the joint committee composed of the Industry and Trade Committee, the Small and Micro Enterprises Committee, and the offices of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs and Financial and Economic Affairs Committees.

El-Qanawy highlighted the significance of the proposed legislation in enhancing governance and oversight of import operations, as well as combating fraudulent practices. He stressed that the amendments aim to address barriers facing foreign investment, noting the importance of creating an attractive investment environment through the removal of bureaucratic obstacles and the introduction of clear regulations for importers.

He concluded his statement by expressing hope that the legal revisions would contribute to improving Egypt’s investment climate.
