October 15, 2023
A delegation from the ElAdl Party met with Ambassador Diab Al-Louh, the Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo, and several embassy officials to express the party’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people in the face of brutal aggression, and to be briefed on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Al-Louh welcomed the delegation and praised their solidarity with the rights and ongoing struggle of the Palestinian people. He emphasized the vital role played by political parties, unions, and grassroots organizations in exposing Israeli policies and bringing international attention to the reality of its practices against the Palestinian people. He provided an update on the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza and expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s official, parliamentary, unionist, and popular stance, reaffirming that Egypt has always been the foremost defender of the Palestinian cause. He highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role, seeing the Palestinian issue as integral to its national security and consistently working to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
MP Abdelmonem Emam, Member of Parliament and President of the ElAdl Party, offered his condolences to the ambassador for the victims of the ongoing aggression. He affirmed that the party, through its membership in Liberal International and ongoing communication with various stakeholders, is committed to conveying the true picture of what is happening in Gaza. He stressed that the party spares no effort in supporting the Palestinian cause and actively mobilizes its MPs and members to deliver humanitarian and relief aid to the Palestinian people.
Senator Ahmed Qanawy, a Member of the Senate and leader of the ElAdl Party, stated that the Palestinian people’s resistance has reignited global attention to the Palestinian cause. He noted that much of the Western public receives a distorted view of events in Gaza, underscoring the need to communicate the reality. He added that these events could mark the beginning of a new paradigm: land for peace, not peace for peace.
In the same context, Ahmed Elsayed, Secretary of Foreign Relations, emphasized that Palestine bears the burden of preserving Arab identity. He asserted that the Palestinian cause is a matter of concern for the entire Egyptian people. He explained that the party’s role goes beyond issuing statements of condemnation; it includes conveying the truth to the Egyptian public and international partners about the ongoing aggression. “Our responsibility is to expose the facts and support the Palestinian people through all legitimate and available means,” he said.
Abdel-Ghani El-Hayes, Assistant President for Political Communication, praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, revealing that over 2,000 Palestinians are currently seeking to enter Gaza from the Egyptian side to stand by their families. This, he said, sends a clear message that the Palestinian people reject displacement and genocide, and urged the UN Security Council and international bodies to exert pressure on the occupying power to stop its crimes.
Niveen Obeid, Assistant President for Women’s Affairs, highlighted the vital role of Palestinian women in enduring and resisting aggression. She reiterated the party’s full support for the Palestinian people and spoke of potential collaboration with Palestinian women’s groups, especially through the Palestinian community in Egypt and the General Union of Palestinian Women. She also mentioned upcoming initiatives aimed at supporting Palestinian women.
