ElAdl Party in COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh: Advocating for Climate Justice and Sustainable Development

A delegation from ElAdl Party, led by MP Abdelmonem Emam, took part in COP27 held in Sharm El Sheikh. The party’s participation reflects its firm commitment to sustainable development and its belief that climate justice must be a central pillar of both national and global policies.

During the conference, Party President Abdelmonem Emam emphasized that ElAdl’s presence at this global event stems from a deep conviction that climate issues are not a luxury. “Climate change directly affects food security, public health, and quality of life. It is not just an environmental concern, it’s a human issue that intersects with all aspects of life and must be a political and social priority,” he stated.

The party advocates for practical solutions to climate challenges, starting with real and sustainable financing. They emphasized that any discussion of climate and environmental policies without concrete funding mechanisms remains merely a well-intentioned wish.

During the COP27 sessions, the party put forward preliminary proposals to support environmentally friendly projects, including tax exemptions and investment incentives to encourage green innovation and expand the green economy in Egypt and the region.

The party also highlighted the issue of climate injustice, emphasizing how developing countries bear the brunt of climate change impacts, despite having contributed the least to the problem. Meanwhile, developed nations have historically reaped the benefits of exploiting natural resources.

This participation aligns with ElAdl Party’s broader vision of positioning itself as a political force that champions both environmental and social justice, working to shape sustainable policies that place people and the planet at the heart of development.
